Year after year, we all hear about the growing threat of Lyme disease and other infections caused by deer ticks. And every year, hundreds of people don’t even realize they were bitten by a deer tick…until it’s too late and they become very ill.

I'm one of those people.  My name is Mo Babicki, and I live in Richmond, Maine.

In 1989, I was bitten by a deer tick in Freeport, Maine, and I contracted Lyme disease. Of course, I didn’t know it at the time. For many years, my doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me. I was tired, achy, sickly, and literally flattened at times by this disease. Finally, in 2003, one insightful doctor determined that it was indeed Lyme disease…and I’ve been aggressively battling this disease ever since. I have good days and bad days, but I never give up.

Here’s the point of my story.

To help prevent more people from suffering the way I have, we must create more awareness of this debilitating, painful disease. We must help people take measures to stop ticks from infecting them…or someone they love.

That’s why I invented the Tick Tactic tick identification and removal kit with my good friend Jane Honeck, whose own acute Lyme disease is in remission. As Lyme patients, Jane and I traveled to a Lyme-literate physician and asked what we could do to help the public. As lay people, the best we can hope for is heightened awareness to take the fear out of a tick bite and provide information and resources for the person bit by this disease-inducing parasite.

Together, we’ve created a handy, inexpensive tick-defense kit that could actually save lives.   Tick Tactic includes valuable information and tools for properly removing, identifying and testing the deer tick responsible for Lyme Disease, as well as Lyme Disease information.  And it all fits in a small, sturdy tin case that can fit into any purse, backpack, glove compartment, golf bag or tackle box.

If Lyme Disease is detected early, the costs of diagnosis, treatment and ultimately human capital can be diminsed.  From the unfortunate passing of our Maine songwriter -
musician Bill Chinook as a casualty of Lyme disease to Al Gore’s premise in his book/movie “An Inconvenient Truth” asserting that the increase in Lyme disease is a consequence of global warming—we see an immense need for a tick-removal and protection kit.

Lyme disease is now an epidemic all over the United States.  The environmental tick hazard is an increasing medical problem.  Addressing it head-on will educate the public, lessen their fears and encourage their continued use of the great outdoors.

At this critical time when tick season is at its peak and concern about Lyme Disease is rising, we invite you to contact us to learn more about Tick Tactic.

Thank you,

Mo
